From a glossary I have compiled of several hundred terms and abbreviations, here is a very brief selection for you

ACPO: Association of Chief Police Officers.
ASB: Anti-social behaviour.
ASBO: Anti-social behaviour order.
AV: Abandoned vehicle
BCU: Basic Cmmand Unit
CCTV: Closed circuit television
CID: Criminal Investigation Department
CPS: Crown Prosecution Service.
CRO: Criminal Records Office
CPT: Community Police Team
DPP: Director of Public Prosecutions
DVLA: Drivers & Vehicle Licensing Agency
FBO: Football Banning Order.
FPN: Fixed penalty notice.
NAG: Neighbourhood Action Group.
NCS: National Crime Squad
NHW: Neighbourhood Watch.
NSO: Neighbourhood Specialist Officer (formerly 'beat bobby').
NCS: National Crime Squad
NCIS: National Criminal Intelligence Service
LPA: Local Police Area.
LPO: Local Persistent Offender
PACE: Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
PCSO: Police Community Support Officer.
PND: Public notice for disorder.
POE: Point of entry
PSU: Police Support Unit
PYO: Persistent Young Offender
URN: Unique Reference Number
