Reporting A Crime

Welcome to my Guide for householders crime-fighting and home protection. At the end of the day it is down to us.
Welcome: The Neighbourhood Watch (Scheme #930) for Marlborough Avenue and Elmhurst Road in Reading was established in March 2000 by Stephen B. Cox (Coordinator) after a public meeting of local residents.  This website:
1. Serves the interests of not only these two roads but :
2. Provides a News Forum for neighbourhoods across Reading.
3. Information and guidance sheets for the general public.
4. Liaison for Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators and residents associations.
5. Tool-kits for householders crime-fighting and home protection.

I hope you will find this site helpful and that it will inspire you work with your neighbours and help drive crime from your neighbourhood and protect your home.
Stephen B. Cox (Watch Founder/Coordinator & Webmaster.)

Introduction:
Since inception our Neighbourhood watch has been dynamic within the communitiy. Neighbours are the real "Force" and focus for crime fighting: it is our homes and our streets. The bottom line is that government policies and police strategies and policing structures may come and go, and statutory bodies have their own priorities and targets, and seldom realistically take us into account.

But this website is designed to serve US: the householder, the resident, the victim, the voter, the tax payer, the concerned parent, the public spirited citizen.

We have been proactive in reporting crimes, suspicious incidents and behaviour and anti-sccial behaviour. Also untaxed veicles. Intelligenc is all they say: without the help of the ordinary resident like you and me the police would find almost impossible to solve any crime.  So as regards crime fighting WE are the most important people.

Through our work as an NHW and that of this website have been instrumental in preventing various crimes and reducing crime overall.

Furthernore an equally important element to neighbourhood crime-fighting is that of rebuuilding and strengthening communities, community spirit and good neighbourliness. Where people work together, help each other and are ever vigilant the small criminal element has a much harder job!

All neighbours (Watch Members) are vigilant and observant in reporting all that they see and hear and support each other. This is reinfced by a newsletter which goes out to all members as well as to other Watch Schemes and Residents Associations in south and east Reading.

A Neighbourhod Watch brings the community together.
